In 1996, the Metro Recycling
Center (MRC) was opened to serve the city Des Moines and its
surrounding communities as its single designated "mega"
drop-off site. This facility was established through a
partnership between Artistic Waste Services and Metro Waste
Authority (MWA) to provide a supervised recycling drop-off
center.
The MRC accepts everything that the program takes, plus
cardboard, scrap tires, scrap metal and old clothing.
The staffed facility features organized drop-off lanes that
get residents in and out quickly. Each type of recyclable
material has its own clearly-marked collection area.
The MRC is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. -
6:00 p.m. and Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for your
convenience.
For questions on what items the MRC accepts, customers
should ask the attendant on duty at the MRC or call Artistic
Waste Services at 262-4040.
You can also pick up recycling bins at this location for any
city at this location.
Note: This service is provided to residents
and businesses of MWA's planning area
communities.
