Artistic Waste Services, Inc. - Residential - Trash Collection

Welcome to automated collection for solid waste! The City of Four Mile Township and Artistic Waste Services are happy to bring you this advanced program for garbage collection.

Your day of service is Wednesday. Extra Trash with Bag Tags and Large item Stickers attached are picked up on the same day as your trash and recycling.

To avoid missed pick-ups all trash and recycling should be at the curb by 6:00 AM.

Remember to stop litter in your neighborhood by bagging all your trash before placing it in your Toter or trashcan.

Fully Automated Program
Artistic Waste Services, Inc. uses a fully automated collection system. Drivers stay in the truck and use a mechanical arm to pick up and empty the cart.

To help us serve you better, please:

Put your solid waste in disposable bags or boxes, tied or taped together before placing it in your cart. This keeps items from blowing away when the cart is emptied.

Place the cart within 18 inches of the curb.

Place the cart so that the short metal bar faces the street on a level surface prior to pick-up, your driveway approach is a good spot be sure the lid is closed.

Avoid placing the cart near low hanging tree branches.

Place the cart at least 6 feet away from permanent structures (mailboxes, walls, lamp posts, utility poles, vehicles, etc.)

Place your cart 3 to 6 feet away from your Curb It! bin, yard waste bags and large items to be picked up.

Nothing can be between the cart and the street.

Yard waste services are not provided by Artistic Waste Services in this area.

Bag Tags and Large Item Stickesr are for sale At all Dahls and Hy-Vee customers services centers or at City Hall and Artistic Waste Services, Inc. corporate headquarters.

Extra Trash Pick Up Tags are for the following:

Appliance or White Goods Disposal
These items are considered appliances: refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, dehumidifiers, microwaves, freezers, water heaters, furnaces, dishwashers, and air-conditioners. They contain CFCs and PCBs and can be damaged when not properly handled. It will take 7 Large Item Stickers to have an appliance picked up and must be called in to set up a collection time. 262-4040

Large items Pick-Up
Examples of large items are pieces of furniture or other residential waste materials with a weight or volume greater than that normally allowed for bags or containers and small amounts of construction of construction debris and building waste materials. Carpet and construction materials should be cut and tied in 4'-5' sections not to exceed 50 pounds in weight. Bag tags and Large sticker items are picked up the same day as your trash. They are for sale at all Dahls and Hy-Vee customers services centers or at City Hall and Artistic Waste Services, Inc. corporate headquarters.

To exchange the cart you have now for a different cart, you may bring the old cart to Artistic Waste Services at 1817 W. Euclid Ave., in Des Moines. If you pick up the cart, there is no charge for the exchange. If you choose to have Artistic deliver your new cart to you, there will be a $25 charge for each trip.

If you are moving to a newly-built home, a cart will be delivered to you at no cost.

When you move within or away from your City, leave the cart behind. Any missing or lost carts will be charged to the residents and/or property owners.

Each property is given one cart. Any lost or stolen carts will be charged to the current resident and/or property owner.

Memorial Day Collection Changes
NO Collection on Monday May 31st, 2010 (Memorial Day).
All residential and recycling routes will run one day behind schedule.
Monday's route will be collected on Tuesday.
Tuesday's route will be collected on Wednesday.
Wednesday's route will be collected on Thursday.
Thursday's route will be collected on Friday.
Friday's route will be collected on Saturday.

Because the holiday falls on a Sunday, there will be no collection changes that week.

About Artistic’s Expanded Collection Programs

Artistic Waste Services offers weekly collection of trash, recycling and yardwaste that is normally generated by single family homes. Occasionally, our residential customers have special disposal needs that include items that they’re not sure how to throw away. Artistic’s expanded collection programs can help you dispose of these items in an environmentally safe and cost effective way.

All the programs are available weekly.
