Welcome to automated collection for solid waste! The City of Windsor Heights and Artistic Waste Services are happy to bring you this advanced program for garbage collection.

Your days of service are: Thursday (for residences located south of Del Matro) and Friday ( for residences located north of Del Matro).
Extra Trash with Bag Tags and Large item Stickers attached are picked up on the same day as your trash and recycling.

To avoid missed pick-ups all trash and recycling should be at the curb by 6:00 AM.

Remember to stop litter in your neighborhood by bagging all your trash before placing it in your Toter or trashcan.

Fully Automated Program
Artistic Waste Services, Inc. uses a fully automated collection system. Drivers stay in the truck and use a mechanical arm to pick up and empty the cart.

To help us serve you better, please:

Put your solid waste in disposable bags or boxes, tied or taped together before placing it in your cart. This keeps items from blowing away when the cart is emptied.

Place the cart within 18 inches of the curb.

Place the cart so that the short metal bar faces the street on a level surface prior to pick-up, your driveway approach is a good spot be sure the lid is closed.

Avoid placing the cart near low hanging tree branches.

Place the cart at least 6 feet away from permanent structures (mailboxes, walls, lamp posts, utility poles, vehicles, etc.)

Place your cart 3 to 6 feet away from your Curb It! bin, yard waste bags and large items to be picked up.

Nothing can be between the cart and the street.

Yardwaste
Organic waste is collected on your normal collection day April through November.
Thursday for residences located South of Del Matro and Friday for residences located North of Del Matro.

All Items must be placed curbside.

Yard Waste must be bagged using a Metro Waste Authority Compost-It Bag or a brown kraft paper yard waste bag with a Metro Waste Authority Compost-It sticker attached.

Bags and stickers are available at Dahl's and Hy-Vee.

Bundles must be cut to 4' length and should weigh no more than 40 lbs

Yardwaste Collection Will Begin The Week Of March 28th, 2010.

Extra Trash Pick Up Tags are for the following:

Appliance or White Goods Disposal
These items are considered appliances: refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, dehumidifiers, microwaves, freezers, water heaters, furnaces, dishwashers, and air-conditioners. They contain CFCs and PCBs and can be damaged when not properly handled. It will take 7 Large Item Stickers to have an appliance picked up and must be called in to set up a collection time. 262-4040

Large items Pick-Up
Examples of large items are pieces of furniture or other residential waste materials with a weight or volume greater than that normally allowed for bags or containers and small amounts of construction of construction debris and building waste materials. Carpet and construction materials should be cut and tied in 4'-5' sections not to exceed 50 pounds in weight. Bag tags and Large sticker items are picked up the same day as your trash. They are for sale at all Dahls and Hy-Vee customers services centers or at City Hall and Artistic Waste Services, Inc. corporate headquarters.

Memorial Day Collection Changes
NO Collection on Monday May 31st, 2010 (Memorial Day).
All residential and recycling routes will run one day behind schedule.
Monday's route will be collected on Tuesday.
Tuesday's route will be collected on Wednesday.
Wednesday's route will be collected on Thursday.
Thursday's route will be collected on Friday.
Friday's route will be collected on Saturday.

Because the holiday falls on a Sunday, there will be no collection changes that week.

Labor Day Collection Changes
No Collection on Monday September 6th, 2010 (Labor Day).

About Artistic’s Expanded Collection Programs

Artistic Waste Services offers weekly collection of trash, recycling and yardwaste that is normally generated by single family homes. Occasionally, our residential customers have special disposal needs that include items that they’re not sure how to throw away. Artistic’s expanded collection programs can help you dispose of these items in an environmentally safe and cost effective way.

How Do You Arrange for these Services?

All the programs are available weekly.
